Mr T. Raja Kumar, Deputy
Secretary (International) at
the Ministry of Home Affairs
and Chief Executive of the
Home Team Academy, was
the Guest of Honour at this
year’s 130th celebration of
the founding of ACS. Also
gracing the occasion were
Ms Yap Su-Yin, CEO of the
Tan Chin Tuan Foundation,
Ms Lydia Yam, Chairman of
our school’s parent support
group, Family@Barker, Mr Lau Cheng Hock of the ACS BOG,
Mr Paul Lee of the ACS OBA and Rev Edmund Koh. We were
also pleased to welcome a number of our graduates who had
returned to receive prizes and awards in recognition of their
academic achievements and contributions towards their alma
mater.
As with the other ACS schools, part of the celebrations was the
Blood Donation Drive. We had ours together with ACS (Primary)
on 27 February and collected 92 bags of blood mostly from
parents, staff and alumni as almost all our students are below 16
years of age. However, our Sec 2 to 4 monitors were present
to provide support service during the day. Current students and
old boys also put up performances throughout the day to bring
in the crowd. ACS Homecoming was held on the same day
so that more would come in to support this worthwhile cause.
An old boy, Lee Song Xuan, presented a gift of art to the school.
He captured the essence of the theme verse with his depiction
of the chimera from our school crest on the large wall outside
The Hub and Art Studio.
We now look forward to the next 130 years with confidence,
in the certain knowledge that God is watching over us at all
times and our unshakeable belief that ‘The Best Is Yet To Be’. |
