Over a scrumptious buffet of Singaporean food catered by Makan Café, there were exchanges of handshakes, laughter and reminiscing of the good old school days. As
Ramana Thirumoorthy, ACS (Junior) Class of 1997, remarked, “It was great getting to meet others in true ACSian spirit.”
The mood however turned somber to remember the late
Mr Earnest Lau. In his speech,
Dr Thum Ping Tjin, ACS (Independent) Class of 1995, said that Mr Lau stood for all things that embodied a true ACSian, and with his passing, “a great light has gone out in our lives”. A minute’s silence was observed followed by the hymn “Abide with Me”, one of the late Mr Lau’s favourites.
As the evening drew to a close, a cake with the ACS crest was brought out and
Mrs Kathryn Koh did the honour of cutting it. After singing the school anthem with much gusto, we gave three cheers to ACS, reminding ourselves that Our Hearts, Our Hopes and Aims are truly ONE. Indeed, wherever we are, we hold the ACS spirit and God Bless ACS forever!
