An Advent With The ACJC Alumni Choir 2020
The Anglo-Chinese Junior College Alumni Choir marks the
season of Advent each year to declare God’s goodness and
love, with music that has been written in honour of Christ’s birth.
Every December since 2008, we have held “An Advent with
The ACJC Alumni Choir” with the aim of bringing the joy of the
season to our listeners.
As the pandemic continued to evolve throughout 2020, it became
apparent that as with many other aspects of life that had to
change, we would have to reimagine the Advent Concert.
Despite not being able to sing live, we came together as a choir,
nonetheless, to record — either from our homes, or in groups
of four or five at the Victoria Concert Hall — our first ever digital
Advent presentation, adhering to mandated Safe Management
Measures. This was released online, on December 6, 2020.
The presentation can be still be viewed on our
Facebook page
or on YouTube.
The choir premiered “Lux Beata Trinitas” or “Blessed Light of
the Trinity” — written for us by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo,
commissioned with the generosity of William and Mavis Tok. If
you would like to explore the joy of supporting a commission of
new music, please do contact us at acjc.alumnichoir@gmail.com
We are thankful for our friends and fellow chapters in the Oldham
Club, ECHO’s editorial team and readers who have supported
the choir through prayer and giving, and continue to journey
with us as we make music through this exceptional time.
To
God be the Glory!
