Since
embarking on the Odyssey of the Mind journey in 2005, ACS (Primary)
has been National Champions for three consecutive years, and our teams
have had the honour of representing Singapore at the World Finals in
the USA. One day, we hope to be World Champions like our brother
schools – ACS (Junior), ACS (Independent) and ACJC. The Best is Yet To
          Be!

Imagine being trapped in a cave with just a coke
bottle and some utensils and trying to get out? This was one of many
thought-provoking problems our two OM teams had to solve creatively,
in preparation for the 2007 Odyssey of the Mind National Competition
on 13-14 April at ACS (Independent).

The competition results were most encouraging.
The less experienced Team 2 came in overall second-runners up in
Division 1 for Long Term Problem 5. Team 1 were Champions in the
Spontaneous Problem for Division 1 and emerged overall champions in
Division 1 for Long Term Problem 3 and earned the honour of
representing Singapore at the World Finals at the Michigan State
University, USA. They did well to come in 16th out of about 67 teams!

For Ryan Quek Tze Wei (P5G) and Kevin Wong
(P5I), the best part of the experience was the opportunity to
represent Singapore at the World Finals, and competing against teams
from other countries. “We became closer after going through this
competition together as we had to work as a team,” said Ryan.

Apart from being amongst the top 20 teams, our
cute-looking “Singapore Chicken” pin, as it was known, was prized as
one of the top 5 most popular pins sought after by other participants.
