ACS (Primary)’s
fund-raising and Thanksgiving
dinner on July 27 for its building extension
drew overwhelming support from
Barker Road Methodist Church,
many generous donors, sponsors,
Old Boys and well-wishers. Dr Vivian
Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign
Affairs and an Old Boy, was our
Guest of Honour.
In the opening
words of our Principal, Mr Arene
Koh, the Thanksgiving Dinner was
more than just fundraising but a
night to give thanks to God for His
bountiful blessings, for benefactors
present who had stepped forward in
aid of the upgrading which “marks
another milestone for the Barker
Road Campus, and set the school on
a continuing journey to do more for
ACS”.
The night showcased talents
from the Guitar and String Ensembles,
the Synergy Performing Arts Group,
and the School Choir. Sathya Nayar
and Gareth Tham (both from P6C),
and Mr Mark Richmond, did a great
job as emcees. The highlight of the
Auction and Raffle Draw segment
was the intense bidding for a piece of
calligraphy, 精益求精 (the characters
of the ACS motto The Best Is Yet To
Be), donated by Cultural Medallion
holder Lim Tze Peng, who has three
great grandsons from ACS (Primary).
As the strains of the chorus from the
ACS Anthem echoed at the close,
the event truly celebrates our past,
our present, and our future, as we as
One ACS family “stand together for
the cause of ACS forever”. To God Be
The Glory!
