On September 1, the ACS OBA hosted
over 130 teachers at the Retired Teachers’
Tribute Dinner, held at the Lee Kong Chian
Auditorium, ACS (Barker Road). The
Tribute Dinner is a highlight of the ACS
OBA calendar, and a wonderful way to
recognise the contributions of our stalwart
educators.
The evening opened with a brief word of
welcome from the President of the ACS
OBA, Mr Lim Tat. Rev Malcolm Tan gave
thanks for the food and the tireless service
of the teachers.
For many of the teachers, it was an
opportunity to catch up with dear friends
and colleagues. There was much laughter
shared over anecdotes about mischievous
students, some of whom were present to
host their teachers! It was an especial
joy that some of the legendary educators
Retired Teachers’ Tribute Dinner
of ACS were present, including past
principals.
The teachers had a lot of fun at the photobooth,
and the traditional ice-cream cart
was a huge hit. Some even began the
evening with an ice-cream sandwich as
an appetiser! Clearly our teachers enjoy
the sweet things in life as there was a rush
for the delectable Goodwood Park Hotel
snow skin mooncakes. The Lucky Draw
also generated much excitement, and the
teachers were delighted with the prizes. It
was truly heart-warming to see the joy on
the faces of our beloved mentors.
We would like to thank Tang Weng Fei
for his extremely generous underwriting of
the cost of the dinner, and other alumni
sponsors who include: Raymond Khoo
(The Peranakan high tea vouchers), Reuben
Lai (Grab vouchers), En Lee (Goodwood
Park Hotel mooncakes) Lock Wai Han
(ice-cream), New Ubin Seafood, Hawk
Ong and Andrew Lim (goodie bag items
and coffee station), Ong Tek Khoan (Lucky
Draw gifts), Darren Tan (Oatberry granola),
Joy-Marie Toh (Lucky Draw gifts), and Class
of ‘60 for the celebration cake.
We would like to thank Mr Loo Ming
Yaw, Principal, and Mrs Aw Meng Yin,
Vice-Principal, ACS (Barker Road), for the
dinner venue and the ACS bags.
Thanks also go to Andrew Law and Leon
Subur for volunteering at the dinner. We
hope that more alumni will join us for the
Retired Teachers’ Tribute Dinner 2019
to give thanks for the blessings that our
teachers have bestowed on us over the
years.
To God be the Glory! The Best Is Yet to Be!
