The boys of ACS Class of 1982 have held several class reunions
over the years, the last being our 30th anniversary held in 2012.
The next scheduled gathering was to be next year, 2017.
However, given that almost everyone in the cohort will be turning
50 this year, it was decided that a special “Jubilee” gathering
be held this year.
A committee was formed and planning proceeded, culminating
in our Jubilee Party on 22 July held at the Tree Lizard Restaurant
and Bar at Dempsey. A total of 111 boys turned up to celebrate
and re-connect with old friends once again. A number travelled in
from afar - Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Australia and beyond.
Additionally, the occasion was graced by the presence of some
of our teachers - Ms Bok, Mrs Lee Gek Kim, Mrs Ira Suppiah and
Rev. and Mrs Ho Chee Sin.
The night kicked off when Rev. Ho blessed us with grace. The
buffet dinner was eagerly gobbled up as were the drinks on offer.
And as is wont, the unofficial “Class of ‘82 wine drinkers club”
broke open bottles of cherished wines carefully carted in for the
evening. Rowdy conviviality was the order of the night.
Another highlight of the evening was a video commemoration of
our brothers who have already departed this mortal earth and Rev.
Susheel John led us in a heartfelt prayer of remembrance. This was
followed by an auction of ACS memorabilia. Monies received
were added to the excess funds collected for the evening and the
total (in excess of $2,300) was donated to the Earnest Lau Fund.
We finally closed our evening with a heartfelt a-cappella rendition
of our beloved ACS anthem.

As we turn our lives’ chapter and enter our half century, we are
increasingly aware of how short our time is and how blessed we
are to have been a part of our class and celebrate the friendships
we have until today.
To God be the glory and the Best is Yet to Be.
