On 1st September, 2013, the Annual ACS OBA Retired Teachers’ Tribute Dinner was held at the ACS (Barker Road) Sports Complex. The OBA organises this event annually on 1st September, in recognition of the hard work put in by our former teachers of the various ACS schools.

This year, approximately 100 retired principals, vice principals, teachers and Old Boys turned up to celebrate the occasion. The occasion was graced by our retired principals and vice principals such as Mr Wan Fook Weng, Mr Wee Kim Cheng, Mr Peter Joe Chia, Mr Lim Keng Boon, Mrs Lennie Cho, Mr Lenn Wei Ling and as well as our ACS Board of Governors Chairman, Mr Richard Seow.

All present were treated to a sumptuous buffet and enjoyed a delectable dessert spread which included Swensen’s ice cream and gourmet mooncakes which were kindly donated by generous Old Boys and Girls. The Class of 1960 added to the celebratory mood of the event by sponsoring a cake in honour of the teachers.

Our guests spent the evening mingling to reminisce and exchange fond memories as well as to share with each other their latest pursuits. The event was rounded off by group photo-taking of retired teachers and Old Boys, and a rousing rendition of the school anthem by all who were present. The teachers went home with goodie bags containing gifts from Food Empire, Eu Yan Sang, Bibi & Baba, Tangs, Lux Asia and Old Boys and Girls.

The OBA would once again like to thank Mr Peter Tan and the ACS (Barker Road) team for hosting us and supporting the logistics of the event, as well as the generous sponsors who supported the evening in cash and kind.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year, and encourage all retired teachers or staff of ACS schools to join us.
