It gets better and better each year!
....
that was what a retired teacher at the
ACS OBA Teachers' Day Dinner commented!
When asked what prompted the comment, she responded: “The popiah is so delicious and what’s more, it is freshly rolled on the spot for us! Aren’t we spoilt?”
The food was indeed good and full credit goes to the OBA Committee for arranging such a sumptuous buffet spread to celebrate not only the retired teachers of ACS, but also the 125th Anniversary of our school.
But the goodies did not stop just there. The Committee went on to provide entertainment for the teachers and our talented old boy
Mr Michael Loh did not disappoint with the two delightful numbers he rendered: “The Moon Represents My Heart” and “Angels”. In addition, five members from the
Class of ‘59 paid tribute to the teachers in a song entitled “To the teachers we’ve known before”, while the
Class of ‘60 donated a beautiful cake adorned with the ACS crest for the occasion.
What was especially touching was the multi-media presentation of tributes made to our retired teachers. There were
contributions from Old Boys including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Oon Jin Teik,Hyflux's
Group Executive Vice President and CEO,
China, and Adrian Pang, a popular stage and television actor who needs no introduction.
It was once again a celebration to remember for many of the retired teachers. We hope to see them again next year on 01 September, although the actual Teachers’ Day will now fall on the first Friday of the September.
And many thanks to
Mr Peter Tan, Principal of ACS (Barker Road) and his staff for hosting us at the Tan Chin Tuan Sports Hall once again.
