The ACS 125 Sports
Carnival
In the spirit of the ACS 125th anniversary celebrations, all the six units of the ACS family of schools gathered together at the ACS (Independent) Swimming and Sports Complex on the morning of 5 August to participate in the ACS 125 Sports Festival. The Chairman of the ACS Board of Governors,
Mr Richard Seow, spoke about the importance of sportsmanship and gave thanks for our time of fellowship before announcing the start of the games.
All six schools, each represented by 300 students donning House tees and bandannas, competed in games under the umbrella of their respective Houses. It was an inter-house competition regardless of which school the competitor belonged to. The land games included hula-hoop passing, a relay race with different objects and a mystery game, while the water games included the dolphin and tube relay races. It was heartening to see the ACS spirit burning brightly as the students cheered each other on and demonstrated great teamwork in the various games and activities.
The highlight of the day was the mystery game at the end of the Festival. It was a combination of hula-hoop passing and a relay race with different objects but what made it so special was that the VIPs, as one team comprising Principals, Deputy Principals, OBA and BOG members, took part in this game and won the first place over the House Teams!
The school anthem was sung with much pride to end the occasion on a high note. As the photographs
on this page suggest, all present had an enjoyable experience as it was a fun-filled and meaningful sports day which we all enjoyed as one big family.
