The
ACS Board of Governors has announced that Mr. Ng Eng Chin,
current Principal of ACS (Barker Road), will be joining ACS
(International) Jakarta as Principal Designate in 2008. Taking over Mr Ng’s position
will be Mr. Peter Tan, current Principal of ACS (Junior).
Mrs. Kathryn Koh, who was the Vice-Principal of ACS (Barker Road),
has been appointed Principal of ACS (Junior). All these changes will
take effect from December 2007.
Mr. Ng Eng Chin has served in the leadership position at ACS (Barker
Road) the last fourteen years. After twelve years of education in ACS,
he started his career in the Education Service as a teacher in 1984
with the then Anglo-Chinese Secondary School. According to Mr. Tan Wah
Thong, Chairman of the ACS Board of Governors, “The Board wishes to
place on record its appreciation and thanks to Mr. Ng Eng Chin for his
twenty three years of dedicated and committed service to the ACS
schools in Singapore. We wish him God’s blessings as he continues his
service at ACS (International) Jakarta”.
Mr.
Peter Tan has been the Principal of ACS (Junior) since November
1999. Prior to his appointment at ACS (Junior), he was a Senior
Curriculum Specialist at the Curriculum Planning and Development
Division, MOE. During his tenure at MOE, he was awarded a Postgraduate
Scholarship and obtained his Masters of Arts (Curriculum Design) from
the University of Ohio, USA. In 1999, Mr. Tan was awarded the
Commendation Medal, a National Day award for his contributions to
education service.
A true-blue ACSian, Mr. Tan taught in ACS (Secondary) (1984-1986) and
Anderson Junior College (1988-1991). He is an active member of the
Barker Road Methodist Church and has served the Church in various
leadership capacities over the years. “We are certain and confident
that he is able to lead ACS (Barker Road) towards greater heights of
success” Mr. Tan Wah Thong stated.
Mrs.
Kathryn Koh, an old girl from ACJC class of 1983, has been with
the ACS Family of Schools since 1989 when she joined ACJC as a teacher
in the English department. She moved on to head the English and
Aesthetics department in ACS (Barker Road) in January 2002, and
subsequently assumed the position of Vice-Principal in December 2004.
She recently completed the 6 month Leadership in Education Programme
at NIE in preparation for her appointment as Principal.
Mrs. Koh is known for her commitment to providing an education that
remains true to Bishop Oldham’s vision of Academic Achievement,
Strength of Character, Christian Values and Services. While she will
provide the best of an ACSian educational experience for our boys at
ACS (Junior), she is also committed to equipping them with the skills
and attributes that will take them on to the next stage in their
education.
