The ACS Spirit lives
            on ...

            ... forty years on!
It has been said that the ACS
Spirit is simply awesome. So awesome that whenever ACSians get
together, they would invariably chat incessantly about the alma
mater with great pride. The common bond and shared values are
unmistakable, as they would reminisce with gratitude the part ACS
played in shaping their lives. So
when the Class of 66 got together recently to celebrate their 40th
Anniversary at the Tanglin Club, many of the cohorts made it a point
to be present – some flying in from as far as Thailand, China and
            Australia for the special occasion.

             Among
our guests were 15 dear teachers, who had made a difference in the
lives of generations of ACSians. As usual, the inimitable Mr Lee
Hah Ing, our ex-Principal, had our full attention when he
recounted with much wit the ACS Spirit that runs strong in old boys.
His speech was met with a long resounding standing ovation. The one
and only Mr “Ernie” Lau then mesmerized us with his recital
of “40 Years On” in his incomparable endearing style, which took
many down memory lane. No ACS
class reunion is complete without teachers, who are adored for the
part they played in touching the lives of many students. In
appreciation, pledges (including a $5,000 donation by Robert Kwan
Wai Meng) were made to ACS OBA Teachers Welfare Fund.
For further entertainment after dinner, Andrew Liew (of
Shmoos fame) and Rex Hu got on stage and led a sing along of
60's hit songs till the wee hours.
It was certainly an evening to
remember and special thanks go to the untiring efforts of Mirza
Namazie and his organizing motley bunch.
