A Delightful Evening
            of
            Joy & Sharing!
            It took the organizing committee
more than 6 months to organize our 45th Anniversary Reunion Dinner
at the American Club on 02 July. The challenge we faced was tracing
our former classmates but we eventually managed to contact 163 out
of the 229 former classmates with much help from Perk Harn
from Vancouver who single-handedly tracked down most of our overseas
            classmates. The final attendance
was 135 persons, including 21 spouses and 5 former Teachers and
Principals. We specially appreciate those classmates living abroad
who cared enough to fly all the way from USA, Canada, Australia and
New Zealand to join us for this happy occasion.
As we mingled and caught up with long lost classmates, we also
remembered those who have passed away in a moment of silence when
their photos were flashed on the screen at the start of the
evening’s proceedings. After the school anthem and grace was said,
we all settled down to a Western Buffet dinner which was enjoyed by
            all.
             The entertainment for the evening
was provided by Wilson David who sang a string of Elvis Presley
hits. The highlight was when Mr Lee Hah Ing surprised us with
his strong voice, clear diction and almost perfect pitching as he
            sang together with Wilson David.
Four short speeches then followed, starting with Glenn Knight
who shared his experiences after suffering a bruising fall in his
career some years back. His job as a prosecutor was not an easy one.
It did not earn him friends and many people mistakenly thought he
was arrogant and an authoritarian. This was the unfortunate public
image that came with the job, but those who know him well will
testify that he is not like that at all. Now that Glenn is retired,
we were glad to learn that he is as well as can be notwithstanding
his present medical condition, less stressed, more contented and
walking close with God. Mr. Wee
Teow Kee was next with an account of how he got his nickname
"Minotaur", after which he delighted us with an impeccable recital
of a poem called "The Organist". For a man his age, his memory for
            poetry is quite remarkable. Ong
Siong Kai then came on stage to declare that despite his serious
financial setback, he is far from being a ‘failure’. In fact, he
considers himself a ‘success’ by the Grace of God. After his Senior
Cambridge, Siong Kai’s plans to be trained as a Pastor at a
theological seminary in Kuala Lumpur was interrupted when he was
recalled back to run his family’s very successful business in coffee
and spices. God faded into the background in this phase of his life
until his financial setback (which he reckons was ‘engineered’ by
God) when he was awakened from his spiritual stupor and rediscovered
the great love that God has for him. Since then, God has provided
for his every need and he is never in want. We are glad that Siong
Kai is neither crushed nor bitter after his financial setback but is
joyful for the return of his zeal for Christ. He is now working in
an Indonesian Private Equity Company and sharing the Good News of
Jesus Christ to whomsoever is willing to listen to him.
The final speaker was Mr. Ernest Lau. In his usual eloquent
style, he reminisced about school life in the 1960s. Eric Lee,
our champion sprinter and school talent time winner then entertained
us with three lovely romantic songs including the popular Mandarin
hit "May The Moon Represent My Heart"(something like that) sung in
            Mandarin no less!!! Finally, the
nostalgic "Forty Years On" which was sung with much gusto by
            everyone present.
