ACSians Downunder keep the ACS Flag flying!
Founder's Day Dinner in Melbourne
Several generations of ACSians in Melbourne (and Rabi Doraisamy who flew in from Perth) gathered for dinner at the Chillipadi Restaurant in Melbourne on 8 March to celebrate the 127th ACS Founder’s Day. It was indeed a grand and successful reunion, thanks to Brendon Lau (Class of 1988) who took up the challenge to organise this year’s event, and Quek Joo Meng (Class of 1976) who acted as advisor.

In his welcome address, Brendon read a message from Mr Cheo Chai Hong, President of the ACS OBA Management Committee, who applauded the efforts and thanked ACSians in Melbourne for “keeping the ACS flag flying high ‘down-under”.

Tan See Keng (Class of 1979) then said grace and dinner was served. In the background was a PowerPoint presentation of pictures of ACS and ACSians, thanks to the efforts of Donovan Ou Yong and Prasad Palanisamy [ACS (Independent) Class of 2009], which brought much nostalgia and which were the source of conversation over dinner. Throughout the evening, there was much fellowship and the sharing of anecdotes of days in ACS. Before the singing of the ACS Anthem, Mrs Lee Gek Kim was invited to say a few words. Mrs Lee thanked Brendon and Joo Meng for organising the event and the many ACSians for their presence. She urged everyone to keep up the tradition that had been started in Melbourne to meet every year to celebrate our school’s Founder’s Day.

The evening came to an end with the singing of the school anthem and the promise to meet again next year.
