| On 25 March, 20 true-blue ACSians,
ages between 78 and 83, wobbled and tottered their way to
Por Kee Eating House to celebrate their cohort’s 60th
Diamond Anniversary. Three ambled in on walking sticks; five
were certified medically unfit and were conspicuously
absent; Tommy Pang took the morning train from Kuala Lumpur
to join in the fun; M. Dhansulkhlal, whilst observing the
Hindu fasting day, also turned up just to convey his
greetings, shake hands with all, and then left for home
after 20 minutes ... only ACSians would take the trouble to
do such a thing for camaraderie’s sake. It has been 60 since we left school
and yet the tone, quality and texture of our camaraderie
remained totally cohesive and stronger through the passing
of years. It goes without saying, that the ACS spirit is
still the greatest motivator! In our reflective moods, all agreed that our 2nd Reunion held at the Mandarin Hotel was arguably the grandest and the best. Regretfully, one feature of the recent reunion picture was missing – our beloved and dedicated teachers! Over the span of 30 years, commencing since our 1st Grand Reunion on 22 August 1981, we have enjoyed 14 more. Two memorable ones, the 11th and 12th, were held in West Malaysia. These were specially planned and hosted by the late Tan Sri Dato Eric Chia Eng Hock in his Park Avenue Hotel in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
Historical group photographs, invariably captured and reflected all the joy, happiness, connectivity, earthly blessings and aspects of mortality. Memories of these may appear a bit hazy, due to the ageing process for some.
Pressing on positively, we have planned and decided to meet again on 8 August 2011 to count our blessing one more time in the motto: “The Best is Yet to Be!”
