On 28 March, ACS
(Independent) played host to Methodist Walk 2009 (organized by
the Methodist Schools’ Foundation) for a good cause. The day
started off bright and early at 6:30 am with many Methodist
schools gathering at the ACS (Independent) Astroturf.
                We were indeed honoured to
have Bishop Dr Robert Solomon deliver us a most inspiring
sermon. After singing a few songs of praise, and doing a quick
warm up routine, we set off.
The walk was flagged off by
our Guest-of-Honour RADM(NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Minister of State for
Education and was led by members of the Senior Admin, Principals
of other Methodist schools and Mr. Goh Yew Lin one of the
notable former ACSians who came to support the event.
                The conditions were perfect
for a walk that morning. Not only was the air pleasantly cool as
it had rained the night before, the walk itself was superbly
organized, with members of the Boys’ Brigade and St John
Ambulance Brigade at hand to give either directions or first
                aid.
Though the walk was 4 km, it
was over all too soon. We returned to ACS (Independent) and were
treated to delicious complimentary treats of buns, bread and
                drinks.
                All in all, the Methodist
Walk was a wonderful event and we felt proud to be walking for a
                good cause.
