The
annual ACSOBA Golf Classic 2005 was held at The Singapore Island
Country Club on 15 April 2005.

An enthusiastic gathering of over 127 old
boys/girls and friends of the school teed off on the challenging New
Course under overcast skies and friendly competition.

After a thoroughly enjoyable 18 holes, the
players convened at the Prosperity Garden Restaurant for a sumptuous
          dinner and the prize presentation.

This year’s Guest-of-Honour was our very own
ACSian Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development,
          Youth and Sports.

The
winners of this year’s Inter-Year Challenge Shield were from the ‘O’
level graduating class of 1971. Overall Champion was Mr. Mark Tan and
Tournament Champion was Dr. Adrian Tan.

A raffle was conducted during dinner and the
proceeds, together with the funds from the golf tournament went to the
Teachers and Staff Welfare Fund. Initiated last year, the Fund
provides financial assistance to those retired ACS teachers and staff
in need. This effort is to repay and acknowledge, in some small way,
the sacrifice and dedication of those educators who were instrumental
in guiding all of us through our education at ACS. Thanks to the
generous support of our participants and donors, the $15,927.91 raised
this year was one of the best contributions to date and will no doubt
go a long way towards helping its beneficiaries. Feedback received
during home visits was very positive as the teachers and staff
expressed their gratitude for being remembered.
