This year’s ACS Staff Dedication Service at the Barker Road
Methodist Church Sanctuary on 15 January was attended by
about 100 staff members. Due to safe distance measures which
restricted attendance, the service was also streamed live for the
benefit of those who were unable to attend.
The service commenced with Introit, The Love of God, arranged
by ACJC student, Tay Yong, and performed by in-house talents
from the ACS family of schools – violinists Ms Ong Xin Yi (ACJC)
and Mrs Chaillan Mui Tuan, ACS (Junior), cellist Ms Noelle
Selvadurai, ACS (Junior) and Mr Arene Koh, ACS (Independent)
at the piano.
Songs of Praise by the Combined ACS Schools Worship Team
led by Mr Loo Ming Yaw, followed, after which Mr Richard
Seow, Chairman of the ACS Board of Governors, addressed
the congregation. Mr Seow thanked everyone for their hard
ACS Staff Dedication Service 2021
work and dedication in 2020 which was a difficult year fraught
with challenges like adapting to online teaching and adhering
to stringent safe distance measures. He expressed that the
role ACS teachers play in shaping the lives of their students is
enduring as evidenced by the many outstanding leaders in the
local and international scenes.
Bishop Rev Dr Gordon Wong then delivered his message based
on Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me”. He urged the congregation to always look to
Christ for strength to do what He calls us to do. He then led all in
re-affirming the “Teachers’ Oath” to impart knowledge and guide
their students in the way of God’s truth and life, and concluded
with a prayer for the teachers.
The service ended with the singing of the ACS Anthem, led by
Mr Loo Ming Yaw.
