Our retired teachers enjoyed a festive lunch on December
7, 2019 at ACJC, thanks to the generous hospitality of the
1989/1991 ACS alumni. The lunch was an opportunity for the
alumni to bless the retired teachers and to give thanks for the
years of their dedicated service to ACS.
The lunch began with a message of welcome by Mr Wan Fook
Weng, retired ACJC principal. Rev Malcolm Tan shared a short
message on Luke 2:10-12, inviting all to experience the lifechanging
power of Christ whose birth we celebrate at Christmas,
when inner fear gives way to great joy because of the Saviour’s
birth. He exhorted all to remember that Christmas is more than
a celebration of tradition, but a celebration of what God does in
us through Christ.
The teachers were treated to a performance of Christmas carols
by the ACJC Choir and String Ensemble, which filled all present
with the spirit of the season. The students had a wonderful time
interacting with the teachers.
Ashley Ting from the String Ensemble said, “I am thankful to
be given the opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer by
sharing our music with the teachers and in return being blessed
with stories of their teaching experience. We were also able to
garner some pearls of wisdom on how to be future-ready through
our conversations with the teachers!”
Navina Thamotharan of the ACJC Choir shared that “It was a
joyous occasion seeing the teachers interact with one another
as well, showing me how strong their bonds with one another
are, even meeting up after a long time!”
The teachers were delighted by the friendship and warmth
shared by the Class of 1989/1991 and all present. Mrs Ira
Suppiah reflected that they were “fortunate and blessed to have
given the best years of our lives to our beloved school - truly a
gift of God.”
Her sentiments were shared by Mrs Kee Nai Chip, who said,
‘My special thanks to Mr Wan and the organisers and Old Boys
for the wonderful Christmas lunch. It was very meaningful to
meet up with old friends.”
Special thanks go to the ACS alumni of 1989/1991 for their
generous sponsorship.
The thanks of the teachers also go out to Mr Wan Fook Weng,
Rev Malcolm Tan, Mr Eric Ang, Mrs Angelina Ang, Mr Loo Ming
Yaw, Mr Vincent Loh, David Loh, Jonathan Loh, Ms Jamie Yee,
Ms Sharon Kwan, Ms Ganga Jayaram, Ms Ong Xinyi and Mr
Mori Toshiyuki for organising the lunch.
To God be the Glory! The Best is Yet to Be!
