On 26 November 2016, about 50 members from the ACS Class of 1966 gathered at the Kent Ridge Guild Hall to celebrate their 50th Class Anniversary. Among those present were four who flew in from overseas for the occasion – Mujtaba Shahid and Winnie Lee from San Francisco, Dennis Goh from Adelaide and Arthur Cheng from Sydney. Also present were four teachers (Mr Lim Keng Boon, Mr Wan Fook Weng, Mrs Kwan nee Seet Ngoh & Ms Lim Siew Gek) and a sprinkling of girls from the Pre-U Class of 1968.
Over a sumptuous meal, old friendships were renewed and amidst much laughter, lively exchanges of anecdotes and school day experiences and memories were shared. And there was no shortage of entertainment. In addition to a 3-piece band, many of the cohort’s accomplished singers and musicians volunteered their talents on stage; they included Andrew Liew, Sue Kuok, Noor Quek, Irene Hoe and Mary Seet.
It was truly a nostalgic evening of camaraderie for all present. Everyone had a wonderful time and promised to continue to stay in touch. Until the next gathering, “The Best is Yet to Be”.
