In 1965, ACS had 160 energetic 18-year olds, more focussed on getting through their ‘A’ levels than their change of citizenship from Malaysia to Singapore on Aug 9. They subsequently pursued academic or professional studies. Spurred by
“The Best Is Yet To Be”, they became doctors/dentists, lawyers, accountants, engineers, business CEO’s, and airline captains in the private and public sectors.

“Yes, the world has changed since we were all together in four classrooms at Barker Rd, wet behind the ears and ready to absorb the wisdom our teachers would impart. The web was something Spider-Man shot from his wrist in the Marvel comics; the net was something we put around our beds at night so we didn’t get malaria; a mobile was something we hung above a child’s crib; a hand-held calculator was an amazing device the size of a small transistor radio that could replace the slide rule and only cost $99!”
