The ACS Class of 90 simply cannot get enough of the good old days in ACS. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of our graduation, we recreated a part of our school experience, in the form of an Assembly, Chapel Service and Recess!
ASSEMBLY
As we “reported” to school on the haze-free morning of 7 Nov’15, the noise level was only superseded by the exhilaration of the reunion. When order was restored, we were delighted when our former Principal
Prof Lawrence Chia, together with former teachers and school staff, marched in to resounding applause and cheers.
Our 4B2 form teacher,
Mdm Yong Lee Har, shared with us the tremendous progress ACS has made over the past 25 years in providing quality education and nurturing young lives with sound values, robust character and deep pride in our ACS heritage. Following this, we were treated to a video montage put together by our mate
Choo Wing Yee. It was a beautiful tapestry of our past and present, comprising images of us back then and now.
CHAPEL SERVICE
After assembly, Liang Wei and
Adriel Loh led us in the singing of hymns and sharing of God’s word. Our former school chaplin,
Bishop Emeritus Robert Solomon, then shared a pertinent message about life’s pursuits and led us in prayer, encouraging us to realign our lives towards what really mattered.
Next, our former Principal,
Prof Lawrence Chia recounted his delightful memories of our batch as he walked through the lyrics of “Land of Hope & Glory”, exhorting us to approach life and the future with God leading us.
The session closed with the singing of the school anthem led by our Discipline Master,
Mr Ng Eng Chin, who flew in from Jakarta to join us for the event.
RECESS!
Because we had already graduated, we could skip classes after Chapel Service and head directly for Recess! Some vendors from the old Barker Road canteen were there to serve our favourite school delicacies; we were truly excited to see them and savour their cooking once again!
To extend the joyous, fun-filled atmosphere, a photo booth was set-up for the Old Boys and teachers to take reunion photos.
This reunion left us reaffirming that we couldn’t get enough of a good thing – for nothing could replace the camaraderie of our ACS family. We would take life’s journey together, and of course, with our beloved principal, teachers and school staff, who made all this possible while we were students.
ACS Class of 90 would like to thank
Mr Winston Hodge and his fantastic team for their kind support in allowing the use of the facilities at ACS Independent, as well as in the arrangements for the event. Our heartfelt thanks also to the ACS OBA, in particular Management Committee Member
Lee Su En, for their great help in enabling us to re-establish contact.
