ACS (Junior) held our second Arts Alive Concert on 6 November
2014. The concert was by far our most ambitious event featuring
all our performing arts groups at their best.
We were indeed
thankful for the blessings we had received in 2014. Our Concert
Band, Choir, Junior Vibez and String Orchestra worked together
to present to our audience a vibrant and sterling programme of
music and dance. It was held at the beautifully restored Victoria
Concert Hall, in the well known historical district of Singapore.
Our inaugural Arts Alive concert held in 2009, was conceived
with the objectives of providing a musical experience for our boys
while creating a sustainable platform to allow the Arts to become
a dynamic part of an ACS (J) boy’s educational experience.
Since then, our performing arts groups had opportunities to
showcase their talents. Our String Orchestra and Concert Band
have played to international audiences in famed concert halls,
receiving international awards and standing ovations. Our Junior
Vibez and Choir have grown substantially in strength, honing
their skills and techniques to excel at local platforms and festive
occasions.
We were delighted that the four performing arts groups achieved
the Distinction Award at the 2014 Singapore Youth Festival Arts
Presentation. Our boys, the instructors and teachers showed
zealous commitment and dedication in their preparation, not
settling for anything but the highest of standards.
This concert would not have been possible without the lively
and unwavering spirit of our Chairperson, Ms Joy-Marie Toh.
The Arts Alive committee members were very dedicated and
carefully planned the entire event. Their efforts had been fruitful.
The four performing arts groups were blessed with their first local
ticketed concert. A part of the evening’s proceeds was donated
to two charities, namely the Bethany Methodist Home and the
Community Chest. The Arts Alive concert 2014 will also provide
opportunities to further develop the arts experience for our boys.
The concert has truly brought together the ACS family through
the celebration of the Arts. We are grateful to our Principal, Mrs
Kathryn Koh, for her leadership and vision. We welcome the
return of our young alumni, the Violin Ramas, who brought much
laughter through their creative and spontaneous performance. We
are deeply touched by the generosity of our supporters consisting
of parents, alumni and friends of ACS.
Most of all, we give thanks to God for favouring us with His
grace and trust that He will continue to bless us. Glory to God!
