As part of our continued efforts to expand and grow the reach of Oldham Club, a fundraising dinner was held at Don Quijote at Dempsey Hill on 16 October 2012.
Planning took place long before the event, with a core group of young leaders from Oldham Club selected to put together an evening for this inaugural meeting of minds. And as with all well-thought out and finely-crafted ACS gatherings, there was a food-sampling session thrown in before the big night to ensure quality food and beverages; attendance was perfect.
Amongst the guests were luminaries, distinguished old boys and girls who have served and continue to uphold the good name of ACS, close friends and supporters.
Mr. Richard Seow was, as always, in attendance, along with
Mr. Tang Weng Fei, Mr. Dennis Yeo and
Ms. Joy-Marie Toh, lending their time to all things ACSian.
The evening kicked off slightly behind schedule, a miracle in itself given the hectic lives of our Old Boys, but that did not dampen the mood. Oldham Club leaders delivered a opening presentation detailing the birth of Oldham Club, sharing our hopes and aspirations and laying out the club's road-map. A made-by-Oldham video was aired, telling heartwarming stories of the many members of Oldham Club, a rich tapestry of young men from diverse backgrounds and schools, and their inimitable journeys toward Oldham Club.
As advised by our wise grey army, we kept the presentation short and concise and brought on food and drinks that were thoughtfully prepared. And with ACSians being ACSians, a barrage of questions from our guests were also prepared for Oldham Club. Old boys already involved with Oldham Club went head-on and tackled the tougher questions while the younger leaders skillfully manoeuvred their way around, very much similar to how things would pan out on the rugby pitch for the different age-groups. Mr. Seow kindly took to the floor midway through the evening to shed more light on the vision and direction of Oldham Club, answering many questions and clearing up any doubts pertaining to the future of Oldham Club as an important entity within the ACS family.
The evening wound down with drinks and dessert, amidst an exuberant symphony of laughter and boisterous voices, with loud smacks on the back and big hugs thrown into the mix. As with all Old Boys gatherings, long stories and tall tales dominated the conversations. This familial environment was exactly what the evening was designed for and at Oldham Club, we are looking forward, with unbridled enthusiasm, to creating the exact same family-feel for all who walk with us. We look forward to everyone's continued support.
To God be the Glory, The Best Is Yet To Be!
