After the glorious Golden Anniversary party held three years ago, the Class of 59/61 cohort just could not wait until 2014 to celebrate its Emerald Anniversary.
So when members of the cohort turned 70 last year, they found the perfect excuse for another grand do – a birthday bash to celebrate their septuagenarian status together!
On 11 November 2012, about fifty of them, some with spouses and several from overseas, gathered at the Copthorne Kings Hotel for the bash. The occasion turned out to be a lively one as old schoolmates caught up with each other exchanging and sharing school day stories and experiences animatedly. Entertainment for the evening was provided by the hotel’s resident band and a string of the cohort’s Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Engelberg Humperdinck wannabees.
Before the evening ended, the question “When shall we all meet again?” was on the lips of many. The answer was not "in thunder, lightning or rain" but 2014 when the cohort has set its sight to celebrate its Emerald Anniversary. That is not too far away. Meanwhile, the cohort continues to keep in touch through its monthly lunches.
