				Class of 1954 Celebrates

				EMERALD ANNIVERSARY!

Three years after our Class of 54’s
Reunion in 2006, some 23 of us (including 7 spouses) gathered at
the Café Daily Bread in the ACS Barker Road Sports Complex on 06
November 2009 for our 55th Emerald Anniversary Reunion. Although
frail and elderly-looking in our 70s, most of us appeared to be
in good health as we chattered merrily and shared our past and
present experiences over a 9-course Thai dinner.

				Our capable and hard-working Convenor,
Kenney Tan kicked off the evening’s programme when he shared
that the evening’s attendance could have been doubled if not for
				some unforeseen last-minute cancellations and others being away;
those residing in Australia, Thailand and the United States also
sent their regrets but wished us a successful and enjoyable
				evening.

Then followed a time of singing old
favourites. Rev. Ho Chee Sin led with “Hello, Hello, We Are Glad To
Meet You”, Alfred Yeo with “Vive L’amour”, and Kenney with “The
Gift Of Love”, “Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen” and “Blest
Be The Tie That Binds” which spoke volumes for the mood that
evening. Surprisingly, we could still sing the ACS Anthem with
				gusto!

Finally, Bobby Sng gave us a short talk relating to his latest
book “The Last Words of Jesus from the Cross”. He encouraged us
to reflect on our past and wonder why we are today what we are.
He said that every one of us has a story to tell and that we are
always interlocked with some others. We should live our lives
wisely and finish our journey well so that our children and
grandchildren can reflect how their elders had lived in the
				past.

His talk is not unlike the book by Rick
Warren from California entitled “The Purpose-driven Life” which
asks “What On Earth Am I Here For?” Bobby generously gave each
of us a copy of his book.
The evening ended with some discussion of our future
get-together functions. Some participants suggested that we
gather together more frequently, but just casually as we are
really reaching the final part of our journey.

We must record our great appreciation
the hard work put in by the Organising Committee led by Kenney
Tan, Tan Chee Chye, Malcolm Goh and Yeo Miang Soon, and hope
				that we’ll meet again soon.

				ACS Forever!
