STB-ACS (International) Jakarta was officially
declared open on 8 November 2006, marking
another significant milestone in ACS history.
Among those present at the Dedication
Service were representatives of the ACS
Board of Governors and Mr Mucki Tan,
founder of Sekolah Tiara Bangsa (STB),
the forerunner of STB-ACS (International)
Jakarta. Also present were Principals
and Vice-Principals of ACS schools in
Singapore, the Bishop of Indonesia
Dr. H Doloksaribu, pastors from the
Methodist Churches in Singapore and
Indonesia, and guests.
Mr Daryl Forde, Executive Principal
of STB-ACS (International) Jakarta,
emphasized in his speech that the school
will be enriched by the now shared
heritage of 120 years.
Mr Tan Wah
Thong, Chairman of the Board of Governors,
shared the visions of the various ACS
schools and the unique ACS brand of education
based on Christian values and teachings. Mr Tan
reiterated that the ACS educational mission is to
“educate and nurture students to be God-fearing
men and women of character and integrity and
equip them to make responsible contributions
as future leaders and global citizens”.
Bishop Doloksaribu then expressed his delight that
the Methodist Church in Singapore and the
Methodist Church in Indonesia are collaborating
to educate Indonesian children, and hoped that
there will be more opportunities for further tie-ups
and cooperation.
Guests were entertained with
performances by students culminating with the school choir leading
the audience in the school anthem, sung in English and Bahasa
Indonesia. The guests were then treated to an Indonesian buffet and
a tour of the school.
