The
ACS Old Boys’ Association (ACS OBA) hosted a dinner in
honour of Mr. Tan Wah Thong who retired after more
than 13 years at the helm of the ACS Board of Governors.
At the dinner, which was attended by
Principals and member of the ACS OBA Management Committee,
the President of the ACS OBA Mr. Benson Puah
presented Mr. Tan with a painting by Lee Wei Kong,
the former ACJC rugby captain.
Raju is back!
When Mr. Sinniah Thangarasu (affectionately known as
‘Raju’ to ACS students and old boys) returned to India in
2005 after nearly 30 years as the ACS (Barker Road) resident
barber, little did he realise then that his planned
retirement will not keep him away from ACS for too long.
At the end of last year, Raju returned
to Singapore to resume work at his barber shop at the ACS
(Barker Road) Swimming Complex, citing boredom with nothing
to do in India as one of the reasons for his decision; the
other reason was that he missed his many customers in the
ACS family, many of whom consider him to be as much an ACS
icon as the Clock Tower!
Raju’s barber shop is open daily,
except Friday, from 10am to 7pm (with a lunch break from
12.30pm to 1.30pm). For appointments, please call:

Relocation
of OBA Secretariat Office
The
ACS OBA Secretariat Office is now located at the
Administration Office of the ACS (Barker Road) campus. If
you are visiting the office for the first time, here are
some directions to help you get there:

From the basement car park, take
the lift to Level 4 and walk down the slope past the
Barker Road Methodist Church Sanctuary until you see the
school canteen. Take the spiral staircase to Level 2,
pass the Concert Hall and you will see the
Administration office which is located across the plaza.

From the school’s main entrance,
walk up the slope towards the canteen. Then take the
spiral staircase to Level 2, pass the Concert Hall and
you will see the Administration office which is located
across the plaza.
The
Secretariat Office is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm,
and the Administrator is Ms Bernie Gammell. She can be

If
you know of anyone from the ACS Class of 1959, or if your
dad or grandfather was from that cohort, please inform him
that his 1959 cohort will be celebrating its 50th
Anniversary on 17 January 2009!
We hope they will be able
to join our celebrations, details of which are below, and
catch up with other ‘long-lost’ classmates, some of whom
will be traveling from overseas specially to attend this
auspicious occasion.
